The History of Tahoma Retreat
In the early 60s, Calvin Page Jr. “Nick” built a rustic retreat on Lake Tillery that his family called “The Cabin”. A magical place with cherished memories of family picnics, reunions, birthday parties, anniversaries and wedding celebrations. Friends gathered for covered dish suppers, ice cream was made the old fashion way and laughter filled the air in those early days. Nick wrote the names of his seven children in the concrete seawall to celebrate his dream come true. For us, it was the perfect Summer Camp.
In 1984,“The Cabin” was expanded into a grand waterfront restaurant known as Nick's on Tillery. Great efforts were made to preserve the original cabin by building around it. Docks were added to accommodate our guests arriving by boat and the exterior walls became windows that showcased the panoramic views. The Page family operated Nick's on Tillery for 5 years and began leasing the management of this establishment to other restaurateurs.
In 2006,Tahoma Retreat was created to return this special place back to its original purpose. …a wonderful retreat for other families and friends to gather and celebrate all that makes life special. The name Tahoma was chosen because of its Navajo meaning “Waters Edge” which is the perfect description of its natural setting on Lake Tillery.
Tahoma has undergone a major transformation to bring it back to its original grace and purpose. Many years have passed since those early days of “The Cabin”. Our names have been polished from the concrete by tossing waves but our cherished memories will never fade.
Our goal is to provide the perfect atmosphere for all of your special occasionneeds by sharing the beauty and serenity of this place with others to create their own cherished memories.
We cordially invite you to experience the magic of Tahoma Retreat. |
